The Oakland Golden Grizzlies won their 2nd straight game and improved to 6-1 on the season after defeating the UC Davis Aggies, 79-66, this past Saturday. In a back and forth game, Oakland used a 9-2 run midway through the 2nd half to take a 52-47 lead and was able to hang on for the victory. Oakland was solid on the defensive end as the Golden Grizzlies held UC Davis to 38.5% shooting from the field and 22.2% (4-18) from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Golden Grizzlies was Stevie Clark who had 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists. On the season, Oakland is averaging 84.6 ppg on 46.4% shooting from the field. The Golden Grizzlies are averaging 8.4 three-pointers per game on 34.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Oakland has been led by Martez Walker (20.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.0 apg), Jalen Hayes (12.0 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.3 spg), Sherron Dorsey-Walker (11.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 3.9 apg), and Stevie Clark (7.6 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 6.1 apg). Defensively, Oakland is allowing their opponents to average 68.7 ppg on 37.7% shooting from the field. Oakland has been outstanding on the defensive end this season as the Golden Grizzlies are averaging 5.0 bpg and 7.9 spg.
The Golden Eagles are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games. The Golden Grizzlies are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 non-conference games and 28-6-1 ATS in their last 35 games following a straight up win.
Oral Roberts have some decent experience in returning starters Albert Owens and Jalen Bradley, however, lost their leading scorer in Obi Emagano (23.1 ppg), and have struggled offensively as they rank 305th in the country in scoring offense. Oakland has been known for their high offensive outputs, however, the Golden Grizzlies are also getting it done on the defensive end this season as they are defensive FG% of 37.7% ranks 33rd in College Basketball. Oakland generally plays tough at home and as I just don’t see the Golden Eagles being able to put up enough points to hang with the Golden Grizzlies, I’m taking Oakland to cover this spread at home.
