Ohio Valley college basketball begins to heat up when the Tennessee State Tigers travel to meet the Eastern Kentucky Colonels.
The Tennessee State Tigers are looking to be mentioned along with the top teams in the Ohio Valley and I’m not sure people are ready to do that although the team seems to be of solid quality. The Tigers have won back to back contests and are 2-1 in the league after a 74-65 win versus visiting Tennessee-Martin as a seven point favorite on Saturday. A 50-35 second half explosion erased a four point deficit behind 48% marksmanship which totaled more baskets and free throws against the 43.6% accuracy of the Skyhawks. Wayne Martin and Tahjere McCall poured in 17 points each for the Tigers with Delano Spencer scoring a game high 19 points while Darreon Reddick tossed in eleven.

The Eastern Kentucky Colonels have lost six of eight and are 1-2 in the OVC so it’s certainly not too late to get things pointed in the right direction. The Colonels dropped a 74-60 decision to Eastern Illinois Saturday the Panthers taking over a close game in the second half as a 3.5 point underdog. Both squads sank shots at around 39% but EIU turned 23 Colonels fouls in to 13 more makes at the stripe. Asante Gist led all scorers with 20 points on 8-15 from the floor including 4-7 from beyond the arc with 17 points and five yank coming from Nick Mayo on 5-16 but Eastern Kentucky needed another contributor.
The under is 6-2 in Tennessee State last 8 road games and the under is 7-3 in Tennessee State last 10 overall while Tennessee State are 32-14 ATS in their last 46 road games. Eastern Kentucky are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 Thursday games and the under is 19-7-1 in Eastern Kentucky last 27 vs. Ohio Valley while Eastern Kentucky are 7-19 ATS in their last 26 vs. Ohio Valley. The over is 9-2 in the last 11 meetings.
Eastern Kentucky seems a bit off and this just seems Tennessee state has to have to be considered a ‘somebody’ in the OVC
