USA TODAY Sports
The UNLV Rebels won just 11 games last season and have seen their fair share of disappointments over the years, but they hope things are different with a second season under coach Marvin Menzies. UNLV did lose some depth last year, but it does return its top player in Jovan Mooring, who averaged 12.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and four assists on 37.4 percent shooting. UNLV also hit a couple of homers by landing Shakur Juiston and Brandon McCoy, which prodivdes a boost to the Rebels immediately. Juiston was one of the top junior college recruits and is a double-double threat while McCoy is a 5-star recruit who turned down offers from Arizona, Michigan State and Oregon. While depth is a question, the UNLV Rebels could surprise some folks this season in the MWC. The UNLV Rebels have lost six of their last eight home games.
Will update with trends if / when is released.
The UNLV Rebels are usually tough to beat at home, as they have a nice home crowd, and this is a talented team that should be eager to set the tone early after the way last year played out. Florida A&M is on the end of a back-to-back, which should create tired legs this early in the season, and it's not like the Rattlers shot the ball well in their opener. I look for UNLV to open this game up and win rather easily in front of their home fans.
