The Oklahoma Sooners won just 11 games last year, the lowest total under coach Lon Kruger, but there’s reason to believe this season will be more successful. Kameron McGusty and Rashard Odomes are both back after averaging a combined 21 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists. Khadeem Lattin brings senior leadership and rebounding ability while Jamuni McNeace adds depth in the post and should shine with more playing time. There’s also the x-factor in freshman 5-star point guard Trae Young, who turned down offers from Kansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma State. Young will help push the pace and create more offense, leading to an exciting and possibly dangerous Oklahoma team in the Big 12. The Oklahoma Sooners have split their last eight home games.
Will update with trends when / if they’re released.
I've said before, I like teams that have a game under their belt over a team making its debut. The Omaha Mavericks had a chance to win their season opener, and they're an experienced roster that had a tough road schedule last season to prepare them for games like this. Last year, Omaha played road games against USC, Kansas State, Iowa, Iowa State and Pittsburgh. The Mavericks won't be scared of going into Oklahoma. I like the Sooners as a sleeper in the Big 12, and this should be a fun season, but for me, this is too many points to lay in a spot like this. Omaha can hang around a bit.
