The Eastern Washington Eagles opened their season as expected with a one sided 82-61 victory versus the Walla Walla Warriors on Saturday. Eastern Washington jumped to a 13 point lead at the break and continued to pull away over the final 20 minutes. The Eagles held the Warriors to 34% shooting and forced 16 turnovers with +20 rebounding edge. EWU did not shoot the ball well at 42.6% but the team did manage 15 more looks at the basket and sank eleven more field goals.

Bogdan Bliznyuk led Eastern Washington with 18 points on 5-8 accuracy with the tandem of Ty Gibson and Jesse Hunt dropping eleven points apiece with Hunt hauling in a game high ten rebounds. Luke Vulkic dropped ten points and posted eight boards on 5-12 from the floor while four players tossed in 6-7 points as Eastern Washington went deep on their bench.
The Washington Huskies look for a perfect 2-0 start to 2017-18 when instate rival the Eastern Washington Eagles come to town on Sunday. Washington survived a tough opener in an 86-82 victory against the Belmont Bruins as a two point underdog. UW trailed by eight at the break before the offense caught fire over the final 20 minutes to finish at 53.8% marksmanship.
