The Wagner Seahawks will travel to Mizzou Arena to take on the Missouri Tigers this Monday night in College Basketball action.
The Wagner Seahawks will come into this difficult matchup with some confidence after the Seahawks opened their season with an impressive victory over the NJIT Highlanders. In a tight back and forth game, the Seahawks were up by just a 48-47 margin with 3:06 left to play, however, ended the game on a 12-2 run which gave Wagner a 60-49 victory. Wagner was solid on the defensive end throughout the game after holding NJIT to just 31.9% from the field and 18.2% (4-22) from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Seahawks was Blake Francis who had 22 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal. Also contributing for the Seahawks was Tyler Plummer who had 11 points, 2 rebounds, and a steal in 21 minutes from off the bench. Wagner finished last season with a 16-14 (11-7 Northeast Conference) and although the Seahawks lost three starters from last year’s squad, they do return two of their better players in Corey Henson (14.6 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.7 apg) and JoJo Cooper (8.2 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.6 apg). Wagner will hope that Blake Francis and Elijah Davis will be able to provide more contributions this season as they enter the Seahawks starting five.

The new look Missouri Tigers starting their 2016-17 with a bang after they opened their season with an impressive 74-59 victory over the Iowa State Cyclones this past Friday. Even without one of the top recruits in the country, Michael Porter Jr., who left the game after playing just two minutes due to a hip injury, the Tigers were exceptional on the defensive end and cruised to victory after taking a 39-25 halftime lead. Missouri was outstanding on the offensive end as the Tigers shot 52.9% from the field and 43.5% (10-23) from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for Missouri was Kevin Puryear who had 17 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 steals in 29 minutes from off the bench. Also contributing for the Tigers was Jordan Barnett (15 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block) and Jeremiah Tilmon (14 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block). Missouri finished last season with just an 8-24 overall record, however, with a new head coach in Cuonzo Martin and bunch of outstanding prospects in Michael Porter Jr, Blake Harris, and Jeremiah Tilmon, the Tigers should be one of the most improved teams in the country this season. Missouri and Cuonzo Martin will count on returning players and Jordan Barnett (12.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg) and Kevin Puryear (11.8 ppg, 6.0 rpg) to provide all the new faces some veteran leadership for the Tigers.
The Seahawks finished last season with a 1-3 ATS record and was 1-1 ATS as an away underdog. The Ducks finished last season with a 13-14-2 ATS record and was 6-6-2 ATS at home.
Wagner had one of the bigger upsets last season over UConn however, they are running into a young and hungry team in Missouri that is wanted to prove to everyone in the College Basketball that they are for real this season. Missouri showed a great performance without arguably their top player in Michael Porter Jr, and as I think their defense is going to give Wagner a ton of problem, I’m rolling with the Tigers to cover this large spread.
