The Wright State Raiders look for a road win versus the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks in a Horizon versus MAC college basketball tilt.

The Wright State Raiders are  on the road for the second straight game to open the year with a trip to the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks. Wright State fell to the Loyola-Chicago Raiders 84-80 as a 13 point underdog on Friday. This was a slower paced game that featured solid shooting with plenty of mistakes with the teams combining for 39 turnovers. The difference was Wright State was outshot 54.8%-48.1% which added up to a few field goals.

The Raiders were balanced at the offensive end with four double digit scorers with Grant Benzinger leading the way with 16 points on 6-12 shooting before fouling out in 31 minutes. Mark Hughes and Everett Winchester each scored 15 points  while Justin Miller rounded out the top Raiders contributors with 13 points and eight rebounds.

The Miami (Ohio) Redhawks look for a perfect 2-0 start to the 2017-18 season when the Wright State Raiders stop for a visit on Tuesday. Miami (Ohio) opened the year with a 55-54 victory at the Fordham Rams. This wasn’t over until the final horn sounded with the Redhawks overcoming mistakes and poor shooting to win. Fordham was held to 39.3% shooting and a 3-24 mark from beyond the arc while Miami (OH) sank shots at only 33.9% while committing 20 turnovers.

Jalen Adaway saved the Redhawks with a team high 15 points on 6-11 from the floor while hauling in a game high 14 rebounds. Logan McLane followed with nine points on 4-10 from the field and snagged nine boards while Dalonte Brown added another eight points and seven pulls. The Redhawks were monsters on the backboards with 51 rebounds with 19 offensive board being their salvation.

Wright State are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 Tuesday games and under is 24-5 in Wright State last 29 vs. Mid-American and over is 14-3 in Wright State last 17 overall. Under is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings.

I think Wright State has the edge if they can limit mistakes and stay competitive on the backboards…
