Duke found themselves down by a 64-48 margin midway through the 2nd half, however, used a 25-9 run to fight back and force OT and was outstanding on the defensive end in OT to secure the victory. Duke shot 44.8% from the field and outrebounded Texas by a 50-39 margin in the victory. The 7th ranked Florida Gators stayed perfect on the season, improving to 5-0 on the year, after defeating the 17th ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs, 111-1105 in 2OT, this past Friday. In an exciting back and forth game, Florida pulled away late after back to back three-pointers by Jalen Hudson and Chris Chiozza gave the Gators a 103-97 lead with 2:11 left in the 2nd OT. Florida shot 45.8% from the field and 47.2% (17-36) from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Gators was Chris Chiozza who had a double-double with 26 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds. On the season, Florida is averaging 102.6 ppg on 50.1% shooting from the field. The Gators are averaging 12.2 three-pointers per game on 46.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Florida has been led by Jalen Hudson (21.4 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.2 apg), Egor Koulechov (18.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.2 spg), Chris Chiozza (13.2 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 6.6 apg, 1.4 spg), and KeVaughn Allen (12.8 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.2 spg). Defensively, Florida is allowing their opponents to average 79.4 ppg on 43.7% shooting from the field. The Gators have a rebound margin of 7.2 and a turnover margin of 5.8.
The Blue Devils are 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. The Gators are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win.
Duke has shown how dangerous they can be led by Marvin Bagley III and Wendell Carter Jr, however, the defensive has to be a bit concerning for the Blue Devils have had to fight back from 2nd half deficits in each of their last two victories. Florida has one of the most explosive offenses in the country, especially after adding Jalen Hudson and Egor Koulechov, and has been extremely dangerous from beyond the arc as they rank 8th in three-pointers made per game and 4th in 3P-FG%. This should be a great game, however, I think Florida’s shooting is going to be too much for Duke to handle, and I’m taking the Gators with the points.
