Southern Mississippi shot 42.1% from the field and 39.1% (9-23) from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was Cortez Edwards who had 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Prior to their matchup against Youngstown State, Southern Mississippi was averaging 71.8 ppg on 45.9% shooting from the field. The Bears are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games. The Golden Eagles are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record however, just 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 non-conference games.
Northern Colorado has been a roll as of late led largely by their defense that is giving up an average of 67.8 ppg during their 4-game winning streak. Southern Mississippi has also been led by their defense as they rank 65th in scoring defense and they’ve done a nice job protecting the ball as they have the 44th ranked turnover margin. Southern Mississippi will make it tough on the Northern Colorado offense, however, I really like how Andre Spight and Jordan Davis are playing right now and I think the Bears do enough to cover this small spread.
