The Eastern Michigan Eagles tangle with the South Florida Bulls in Sunday college basketball.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles were enjoying a fantastic start to the 2017-18 campaign with a 4-0 record before the good times ended in an 87-67 defeat at the Indiana Hoosiers as a 9.5 point under dog on Friday night. Elijah Minnie scored a game high 20 points on 6-17 from the floor with five makes from beyond the arc while Paul Jackson gave the Eagles 12 points and five assists on 2-8 from the field. EMU received ten points and eight rebounds from Jack Thompson IV followed by Tim Bond with a nine point effort on 4-6 shooting.
The South Florida Bulls are not accustomed to very much success so a 4-2 start to kick off the season is very good. South Florida has won consecutive contests following a 72-61 rout of the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Friday night with a 48.1%-37.3% shooting edge with eleven more free throws being the difference.
Malik Martin was the Bulls big gun at the offensive end on 9-11 marksmanship while hauling in ten rebounds. Tulio Da Silva added 13 points and posted six boards on 5-11 while Payton Banks and Stephen Jiggets netted 12 and ten points respectively.
Over is 8-2-1 in Eastern Michigan last 11 non-conference games and Eastern Michigan are 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 Sunday games. South Florida are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games and South Florida are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 vs. Mid-American.
I’m a bit surprised by the early season success of South Florida but at the end of the day I’m still going against them…
