The Wright State Raiders won their 3rd straight game and improved to 3-3 on the season after defeating the Jacksonville Dolphins, 68-44, yesterday afternoon. Wright State didn’t allow Jacksonville to get anything going on the offensive end and easily pulled away for the victory after taking a 58-33 lead with 13:05 left in regulation. Wright State held Jacksonville to just 31.9% shooting from the field and 25.0% (4-16) from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Raiders was Grant Benzinger who had 16 points and 6 rebounds. Prior to their game against Jacksonville, Wright State was averaging 69.6 ppg on 43.0% shooting from the field. The Raiders were averaging 4.8 three-pointers per game on 29.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Wright State has been led by Grant Benzinger (13.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.4 apg), Everett Winchester (11.6 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.2 apg), Mark Hughes (10.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.4 apg), and Justin Mitchell (9.3 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 3.8 apg, 3.0 spg). Defensively, Wright State was allowing their opponents to average 66.6 ppg on 43.7% shooting from the field. The Raiders had a rebound margin of 4.4 and a turnover margin of 1.0.
The Stags are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Raiders are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Sunday games and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
Fairfield has one of the best players in the MAAC in Tyler Nelson however, the Stags have struggled on the defensive end as they rank T-295th in scoring defense and T-294th in turnover margin. Wright State has been outstanding on the defensive end during their 3-game winning streak as the Raiders are holding their opponents to just an average of 46.7 points per game. Wright State is a solid team at home and as I think their offense will have some success against the Fairfield defense, I’m taking the Raiders to cover this small spread.
