Virginia vs. Wisconsin - 11/27/17 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Virginia Cavaliers remained perfect on the season, improving to 6-0 on the year, after defeating the Rhode Island Rams, 70-55, this past Friday to win the Preseason NIT Tournament. Virginia went into halftime with a 30-27 lead and pulled away after a 17-4 run gave the Cavaliers a 52-39 lead with 10:23 left to play in regulation. Virginia shot 50.0% from the field and outrebounded the Rams by a 33-22 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Cavaliers was Isaiah Wilkins who had 19 points, 6 rebounds, and a block. On the season, Virginia is averaging 73.3 ppg on 50.8% shooting from the field. The Cavaliers are averaging 6.8 three-pointers per game on 39.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Virginia has been led by Kyle Guy (15.8 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.7 spg), Devon Hall (11.2 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.2 apg), Isaiah Wilkins (8.8 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.2 spg, 1.3 bpg), and Ty Jerome (8.3 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.3 spg). Defensively, Virginia is holding their opponents to an average of 52.3 ppg on 36.1% shooting from the field. The Cavaliers have a rebound margin of 3.0 and a turnover margin of 4.7.

The Badgers are 18-6 ATS in their last 24 games vs. ACC opponents however, are 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 road games. The Cavaliers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS win and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

Wisconsin might be only 3-3 on the season, however, all three losses have been in competitive games against top-25 teams. Virginia will be in the top-25 when the new rankings come out on Monday as the Cavaliers have looked like one of the best teams in the country as they rank 2nd in scoring defense, 34th in FG%, and 16th in defensive FG%. Wisconsin has gotten some of their young talent playing well, however, Virginia looks as tough as ever on the defensive end and as their offensive looks like it is able to put up points when needed, I’m taking the Cavaliers to cover this spread.
