The Dayton Flyers will try to find some measure of consistency after alternating wins and losses through each of their first 5 games, including a 73-60 win over Akron last time out to improve to 3-2 this season. Josh Cunningham led the team with 20 points on 7 of 10 shooting with 16 rebounds and 3 assists for a massive double-double, while Jordan Davis added 14 points on 5 of 9 shooting with 4 threes. Kostas Antetokoumpo and Davis each chipped in 12 points to round out the scoring in double figures for the Flyers in the win. Antetokoumpo went 5 for 6 with a pair of steals and a pair of blocks, while Davis went 4 for 9 with a pair of threes. Jalen Crutcher went just 1 for 7 but did record 3 steals and a team-high 8 assists in the winning effort. Davis leads the team with an average of 20 points per game this season, while Cunningham is averaging a double-double per game with 16 points in addition to his team-high average of 10.2 rebounds and Crutcher leads the way with 3.4 assists per game this season. As a team, Dayton is scoring 73.2 points per game on 47% shooting from the field, 33.9% from behind the arc and 72.4% from the foul line this season.
Auburn is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games while the over is 15-3 in their last 18 games overall. Dayton is 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games against the SEC and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home games against a team with a winning road record while the over is 11-1 in their last 12 games following a win.
I personally think the Flyers have had the tougher schedule through the first 5 games. The problem is that although the Flyers have had success against the SEC over the years, they’re struggling to find consistency out of the gate. Auburn has been finding ways to light up the scoreboard, reaching the century mark twice already this season and puttig up 83 points in each of their wins and I think they do it again with a win and cover over an up and down Dayton team.
