The SIU-Edwardsville Cougars have struggled out of the gate and need a quick turnaround so their season doesn’t get out of hand. SIU-Edwardsville fell to 1-4 after a 103-66 defeat at the Creighton Bluejays on Saturday as a 26.5 point underdog. This was all Creighton who amassed a 58.3%-38.7% shooting edge as well as owning across the board advantages throughout the box score.

Christian Ellis and Jalen Henry were the only two Cougars to score in double figures with 19 points apiece on a combined 13-27 from the field with Henry hauling in a contest high nine rebounds. Julian Torres gave SIU-Edwardsville another eight points but the offense need several more options and more defensive stops.
The Southern Illinois Salukis are hoping to avoid a three game slide after losing to the Murray State Racers 81-73 on Saturday as a five point underdog. Southern Illinois was up by six at the intermission but couldn’t buy a stop in the final 20 minutes with the Racers going on a 50-36 run. Murray State sank shots at 49.1% and SIU countered at 44.6% with ten more looks but fell off the pace with ten fewer makes at the stripe.
Sean Lloyd Jr. was the top Salukis offensive option with 19 points, three pulls and three assists on 7-12 accuracy followed by a 12 point effort from Kavion Pippen on 6-8 from the floor. The twosome of Aaron Cook and Tyler Smithpeters dropped eight points each and snagged seven boards between them.
