Down at Spectrum Center on Friday evening, the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Davidson Wildcats will be meeting up in college basketball activity.
North Carolina enters this game with a 6-1 record this year. The Tar Heels’ lone blemish so far was a 63-45 loss to Michigan State, but they bounced back with a win over Michigan in their last outing. In that one, Luke Maye led NC with 27 points.
USA TODAY Sports
So far this year for North Carolina, Maye is averaging 20.1 PPG with 9.4 RPG, and Joel Berry has 15.3 PPG. Also in double-figures for the Tar Heels are Kenny Williams (13.7 PPG) and Theo Pinson (10.7 PPG; 5.6 RPG).
As for Davidson, they’re sitting at 3-2 on the year. The Wildcats lost against Nevada and Appalachian State but beat Charlotte in their most recent game. In that one, Peyton Aldridge came up with 25 points for Davidson.
On the season, Aldridge is leading the Wildcats with 22.0 PPG and 7.2 RPG, and Jon Axel Gudmundsson has 15.8 PPG and 5.8 RPG with 6.0 APG. The only other Davidson player in double-digits is Kellan Grady, with 15.8 PPG.
The Tar Heels are 4-0 ATS in their last four Friday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. North Carolina is also 5-2 ATS in their last seven non-conference games and 0-5-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 Friday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five versus the ACC. The under is 6-2 in the Wildcats’ last eight Friday games and 15-6 in their last 21 versus the ACC.
North Carolina came out pretty limp against Michigan State, scoring just 45 points in the game. The Tar Heels fought back against Michigan, though, and they’ve scored at least 86 in all of their wins. As for Davidson, they’ve scored at least 85 points in all of their victories, so they can definitely put points on the board. I like the Wildcats to hang around here and cover.
