The Holy Cross Crusaders met the Manhattan Jaspers in the opener of the Belfast Classic college basketball tournament.
The Holy Cross Crusaders faceoff with the Manhattan Jaspers on Friday looking to snap a three game skid where end of the floor has been inconsistent. Holy Cross comes off of a 78-62 loss to the Albany Great Danes where Albany held a 53.4%-50% shooting advantage with ten more looks at the basket which was the difference in the game getting a bit out of hand.

The Crusaders attack featured a trio of double digit scorers led by Karl Charles with 16 points on 3-8 from the floor including an 8-10 effort at the stripe. Patrick Benzan tossed in 13 points on 6-9 from the field while the duo of Jehyve Floyd and Jacob Grandison combined for 19 points with Floyd grabbing a team high four rebounds.
The Manhattan Jaspers opened their 2017-18 schedule with a pair of wins but have fallen on hard times since with four consecutive defeats capped off by a 70-57 loss to the Fordham Rams as a five point underdog. The Jaspers shot the ball well enough at 46.9% but 25 turnovers helped the 50.8% shooting Rams ten more shots and seven more baskets.
Rich Williams paced four Jaspers that scored in double figures with 12 points and five assists on 4-9 from the floor which include three long balls. Thomas Capuano, Zane Waterman and Calvin Crawford gave Manhattan eleven points apiece on 14-27 shooting with Crawford and Waterman combining for 17 rebounds.
