Late night college basketball fans can tune in to the Pepperdine Waves and the Cal Poly Mustangs matchup on Saturday.
The Pepperdine Waves need a win just to restore some confidence after an 88-82 loss to the Southern Utah Thunderbirds saddled the team with losses in four of five. The Thunderbirds took a six point lead in to the locker room and traded baskets the rest of the way. Pepperdine won the shooting battle 51.7%-45.8% but SUU nailed 15-30 from distance and sank more free throws.

Kameron Edwards was a one man show for the Waves with a contest high 25 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks on 10-14 from the floor with Nolan Taylor adding 13 points and five pulls on 6-9 shooting. The dui of Trae Berhow and Colbey Ross gave Pepperdine 13 points each with Ross handing out nine assists.
Despite a 3-4 record, the Cal Poly Mustangs have generally been competitive with pace and defense their allies. However, that wasn’t the case in a 75-66 loss to the Idaho Vandals where a nine point deficit heading to the intermission was too much to overcome. The Mustangs were outshot 43.6%-36.7% for a difference of a few baskets with an 8-27 mark on threes likely costing the team an opportunity to win.
Victor Joseph was the Mustangs go to offensive player with 23 points on 8-14 from the field which included a 4-9 effort on three balls. The twosome of Donovan Fields and Luke Meikle each netted ten points with Meikle hauling in a game high ten rebounds but Cal Poly needed another scoring option.
