Saint Mary’s fought back from a 58-50 deficit midway through the 2nd half to force overtime, however, couldn’t fight back of Georgia’s Tyree Crump made a three-pointers to put the Bulldogs up by a 81-77 margin with 1:27 left in OT. The California Golden Bears snapped their 3-game losing streak and improved to 3-4 on the season after defeating the CSU Northridge Matadors, 83-63, this past Tuesday. California used an early 13-0 run to take a 28-11 lead midway through the 1st half and had no trouble cruising to a victory after taking a 69-42 lead with 11:07 left in regulation. California shot 51.7% from the field and 42.9% (6-14) from beyond the arc in the win. Leading the way for the Golden Bears was Darius Mitchell who had 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. The Gaels are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games vs. Pac-12 opponents however, are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Golden Bears are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. WCC opponents.
Saint Mary’s has the best player in the WCC in Jock Landale however, the Gaels have struggled on the defense end as of late as they allowed in average of 83.5 ppg in their recent losses against Washington State and Georgia. California is a young team has been played by inconsistent play so far this season as although they gave Wichita State all they couldn’t handle, they also got blown out by D-II Chaminade just two days later. California responded well to their coach’s challenge after their shocking loss to Chaminade to easily defeat and Cal State Northridge, and as I think they’ll bring their A-game against the very good Saint Mary’s team, I’m taking California to cover at home with the points.
