The Air Force Falcons lost their 3rd consecutive game and dropped to 3-3 on the season after being defeated by the Indiana State Sycamores, 74-64, this past Wednesday. Air Force had no answers for the Jordan Barnes/Brenton Scott duo of Indiana State and couldn’t fight back after a 12-3 Sycamores run put Air Force behind by a 66-55 margin with just 2:49 left in regulation. Air Force allowed Indiana State to shoot 46.3% from the field and committed 20 turnovers in the loss. Leading the way for the Falcons was Lavelle Scottie who had 15 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and a steal. On the season, Air Force is averaging 69.8 ppg on 40.7% shooting from the field. The Denver Pioneers improved to 3-4 on the season after defeating the Wyoming Cowboys, 88-78, this past Wednesday. Denver stormed out of the gates in this one, taking an early 23-8 lead, and used a strong offensive performance to hold a comfortable lead throughout the victory. Denver shot 56.0% from the field, 46.7% (7-15) from beyond the arc, and outrebounded Wyoming by a 47-27 margin in the win. Leading the way for the Pioneers was Daniel Amigo who had a double-double with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists. On the season, Denver is averaging 73.1 ppg on 46.1% shooting from the field. The Pioneers are averaging 6.6 three-pointers per game on 37.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Denver has been led by Daniel Amigo (17.6 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 1.3 apg), Joe Rosga (17.0 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.6 apg), Elvin Rodriguez (9.7 ppg, 1.0 rpg), and Jake Pemberton (7.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 1.6 apg). Defensively, Denver is allowing their opponents to average 73.9 ppg on 39.5% shooting from the field. The Pioneers have a rebound margin of 9.0 and a turnover margin of -7.4.
The Falcons are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS loss however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games. The Pioneers are 7-15-1 ATS in their last 23 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and just 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Air Force had a nice start to their season, winning four straight games, however, they’ve struggled as of late and come into this matchup ranked just 270th in scoring offense and 309th in FG%. Denver has one of the best duos in the Summit in Daniel Amigo and Joe Rosga and although they’ve struggled with turnovers, Denver showed they can be dangerous team with their convincing victory over Wyoming. I had a good feeling that Denver was going to turn a corner against Wyoming and as I just don’t see Air Force having the talent to keep up with the Pioneers, I’m taking Denver to cover this small home spread.
