The Iowa Hawkeyes will try to bounce back from a 79-55 rout at the hands of Virginia Tech in their last outing to fall to 4-3 on the year. Tyler Cook led the team with 16 points on 6 of 10 shooting with 9 rebounds and a pair of blocks, while Jordan Bohannon added 12 points consisting of 4 triples as the only Hawkeyes to finish in double figures in scoring in the loss. Cordell Pemsl added 6 points along with a team-high 6 assists and 14 rebounds. As a team, Iowa is scoring 80.7 points per game on 47.9% shooting from the field, 40.3% from behind the arc and 66.8% from the foul line this season.
Penn State is 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference matchups while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. Iowa is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 conference matchups and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 8-3 in their last 11 home games. Penn State is 2-9 ATS in the last 11 meetings between these two teams at Iowa.
The Nittany Lions have had their fair share of struggles going to Iowa and covering the spread. However, even with their loss last time out, this is still one of the best Penn State teams in recent memory and that game against NC State could’ve went either way and Penn State kept it respectable. Iowa on the other hand, was tied at the half with Virginia Tech and just flat out let the wheels fall off. All in all, I think that carries over here, and with this game being a pick ‘em, I like Penn State to start conference play with a road win here.
