The Mercer Bears battle the Memphis Tigers in non-conference college basketball action.
The Mercer Bears have begun the season with some very strong numbers at both ends of the floor although the tables were turned in an 84-60 defeat at the Tennessee Volunteers where a 19 point hole at the intermission ended this from a competitive stand point. The Bears hit shots at 37.8% which could not compete with the Volunteers 55.6% accuracy.

Jordan Strawberry was the top weapon for the Bears with 20 points and four yanks on 5-9 from the field with thee bombs and a 7-9 effort on foul shots. Ethan Stair scored eleven points on 4-7 shooting before fouling out in 21 minutes so Mercer lacked scoring options.
The Memphis Tigers are aiming for their 4th win of the early going against the Mercer Bears on Saturday. Memphis comes off of a 71-56 defeat at the UAB Blazers as a 4.5 point underdog on Thursday night where the team was staring at a 19 point deficit at the halfway point. The Tigers held a slight 47.8%-46.2% shooting advantage but the Blazers 18-4 margin at the foul line was decisive.
Jeremiah Martin was the Tigers top offensive option at 18 points with four yanks and four assists on 7-13 from the floor including three long balls while Kyvon Davenport added 14 points and three blocks on 5-9 accuracy with another three makes from distance. Kareem Brewton Jr. gave Memphis eight points on 4-5 but the offense needed a few more contributors.
Mercer are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight up loss and Mercer are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss and over is 7-2 in Mercer last 9 non-conference games. Memphis are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall and over is 7-2 in Memphis last 9 overall.
Times have changed with Memphis being small chalk. I’ll back Mercer but I wanted more points…
