We’ve got college basketball action coming early Saturday as the Manhattan Jaspers take on the Towson Tigers.
Manhattan comes into this game with a 3-4 record overall. The Jaspers had a four-game losing streak going against UMKC, Missouri State, Northern Illinois and Fordham before taking a win over Holy Cross on Friday.
USA TODAY Sports
In that Holy Cross game, the Jaspers’ Zane Waterman and Calvin Crawford each put up 14 points, combining for 10 rebounds, two assists and four steals. Pauly Paulicap played pretty well for Manhattan in that one as well, logging 11 points and seven rebounds.
Over on the Towson side, they’re currently 7-1 on the year. The Tigers started out with a loss to Old Dominion, but since have rattled off seven straight wins. The latest victory for Towson came Friday against La Salle.
In that La Salle game, Towson’s top scorer was Zane Martin, with 20 points and four rebounds. Mike Morsell also had a nice game for the Tigers, as he came up with 17 points, five rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Towson is 6-0 ATS in their last six non-conference games, and 8-1-1 ATS in their last nine games following a straight-up win. The Tigers are also 5-1 ATS in their last six neutral-site games and 16-5-2 ATS in their last 23 games overall.
Meanwhile, the Jaspers are 17-7 ATS in their last 24 neutral-site games and the under is 8-0-1 in their last nine non-conference games. The under is also 20-7-1 in Manhattan’s last 28 overall and 20-7 in their last 27 neutral-site games.
Manhattan had been looking for some secondary scoring, and they got it in the Friday game. It was the first time the Jaspers had reached 70 points over a five-game stretch. As for Towson, they’ve been pretty impressive over this winning streak, taking every game convincingly—except maybe a 3-point win against Georgia Southern. I like Towson to stay strong here and cover.
