The Boise State Broncos won their 3rd straight game and improved to 7-1 on the season after upsetting the Oregon Ducks, 73-70m this past Friday. Boise State ended Oregon’s 46-game home winning streak after a half-court shot by Lexus Williams went in as time expired. Boise State shot 43.6% from the field and 36.8% (7-19) from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Broncos was Chandler Hutchison who had a double-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists. On the season, Boise State is averaging 78.3 ppg on 45.5% shooting from the field. The Broncos are averaging 11.5 three-pointers per game on 42.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Boise State has been led by Justinian Jessup (14.8 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.5 spg), Alex Hobbs (12.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.8 apg), Chandler Hutchison (11.7 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 3.7 apg), and Christian Sengfelder (10.9 ppg, 6.0 rpg). Defensively, Boise State is holding their opponents to an average of 62.5 ppg on 39.7% shooting from the field. The Broncos have a rebound margin of 9.8 and a turnover margin of -2.6.
The Pilots are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 road games. The Broncos are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games vs. WCC opponents and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
When looking at the numbers, Portland looks like a decent team, however, it’s important to realize that most of those quality numbers came in their 3 wins against the likes of Walla Walla, Oregon Tech, and Multnomah. Boise State has looked great this season ranking 33rd in scoring defense and 25th in 3P-FG% and after beating a good Loyola (CHI) team at home by 34 points last week, I’m taking Boise State to cover this large home spread.
