The Georgetown Hoyas will try to remain unbeaten after climbing to 5-0 on the year thanks to a 76-55 win over Maine in their last outing. Kaleb Johnson led the team with 18 points on 5 of 10 shooting, while Jessie Govan came 2nd with 16 points on 7 of 12 shooting with a team-high 8 rebounds and a pair of steals. Marcus Derrickson came 3rd with 12 points and Jahvon Blair added 11 points with a pair of steals, while Jonathan Mulmore chipped in 10 points and a team-high 5 assists to round out the scoring in double figures for the Hoyas in the win. Govan leads Georgetown by averaging a double-double per game this season with 18.6 points and 11.4 rebounds per game while Mulmore leads the team in assists with 5.4 assists per game this season. As a team, Georgetown is scoring 83.2 points per game on 51.1% shooting from the field, 42.7% from behind the arc and 78.8% from the foul line this season.
Coppin State is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 road games. Georgetown is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 5-13 ATS in their last 18 non-conference games while the under is 7-0 in their last 7 home games.
As much as I want to make this pick about the Hoyas, it’s simply about the fact that Coppin State’s margin of defeat in their 6 double-digit losses this season is an average of 29.5 points per game this season. Ouch. The concern I have is that Georgetown will call off the dogs early, leaving the door open for a backdoor cover, but if Georgetown plays to their full potential, they should have no problem covering this thick spread. I’ll lay the points with Georgetown here.
