Non-conference college basketball presents us with a matchup between the Eastern Kentucky Colonels and the Oregon State Beavers.
The Eastern Kentucky Colonels will be looking for consistency at both ends of the floor as they aim for back to back victories. Eastern Kentucky comes in off of a 70-65, overtime win versus the Jacksonville Dolphins on Saturday. The Colonels held the Dolphins to 35.8% shooting and couldn’t capitalize on their own 38.7% but a few more threes and free throws turned out to be the difference.

Nick Mayo was the best Eastern Kentucky offensive option with a game high 22 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks on 7-9 from the floor followed by Dedric Boyd with 14 points and four yanks on just 5-18 shooting. Asante Gist gave EKU 13 points, four yanks and four assists on 4-15 while DeAndre Avare added eleven points and 12 rebounds on 5-10 accuracy.
The Oregon State Beavers are looking for win number three in a row after upending the Loyola Marymount Lions 78-74 on Saturday as a ten point favorite. Oregon State was in control in the first half with a 13 point lead at the intermission before Loyola Marymount found their offense to make things interesting. The Beavers burned the nets at 56% and held the Lions to 42.9% but 13 extra looks kept this game competitive.
Drew Eubanks was the Beavers go to scorer with 22 points and five pulls on a perfect 10-10 from the field while Tres Tinkle did a bit of everything with 18 points, seven board, seven assists and three blocks on 5-10 shooting. Ethan Thompson and Stephen Thompson Jr. gave the Colonels eleven points apiece on a combined 8-17 from the floor.
