On Tuesday evening at Charles Koch Arena, the South Dakota State Jackrabbits will be meeting up with the Wichita State Shockers in college basketball activity.
South Dakota State enters this game with a 7-3 record so far. The Jackrabbits had a four-game win streak going, but dropped their last one against Missouri State. In that one, South Dakota State’s top scorer was Tevin King with 13 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Mike Daum is the top Jackrabbits scorer this year with a 18.8 PPG average and 7.7 RPG. Also in double-figures for South Dakota State are David Jenkins (14.2 PPG) and Reed Tellinghuisen (11.9 PPG; 4.9 RPG).
Over on the Shockers’ side, they’re sitting at 6-1 on the year. Wichita State lost to Notre Dame on November 22 but since then have beaten Savannah State and Baylor. In that Bears game, Wichita State was led by Shaquille Morris with 15 points.
Morris leads the Shockers in scoring so far with 13.9 PPG and 5.4 RPG this year, and Landry Shamet is close behind at 13.7 PPG. Also in the double-digit club for Wichita State are Darral Willis (11.4 PPG; 6.9 RPG) and Conner Frankamp (10.9 PPG).
South Dakota State is 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a straight-up loss and 5-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS loss. The Jackrabbits are also 14-5 ATS in the last 19 games overall and 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Shockers are 8-0 ATS in their last eight Tuesday games and 5-1 ATS in their last six home games. Wichita State is also 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four games following an ATS win.
South Dakota State was pretty sluggish during that Missouri State game, scoring just 26 points in the first and 27 in the second half. Given the way the Jackrabbits have been playing, and Wichita State’s overall talent on their roster, I like the Shockers to cover here.
