Coming up at Holt Arena on Wednesday, the Cal State Northridge Matadors and the Idaho State Bengals will be matching up in college basketball activity.
The Matadors enter this game with a 1-6 record overall. CSU Northridge won their opener but since has dropped six straight, most recently to Binghamton, California and Montana. In that Montana game, the Matadors’ lead scorers were Tavrion Dawson and Michael Warren, each with 14 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Dawson leads CSU Northridge in scoring this year with 15.4 PPG and 5.0 RPG, and Warren is second with 12.1 PPG and 6.1 RPG. Also in double-digits for the Matadors are Terrell Gomez (11.4 PPG) and Lyrik Shreiner (10.9 PPG).
Over on the Idaho State side, they’re sitting at 1-5 on the year. The Bengals dropped their first five games to start the season but beat Bethesda in their last outing. In that game, the Bengals’ Jared Stutzman led the way on 20 points.
Stutzman is the top Idaho State scorer this season with 14.0 PPG. The only other two Bengals players averaging in double-figures are Balint Mocsan (12.0 PPG) and Geno Luzcando (10.3 PPG), but Brandon Boyd is close on 9.4 PPG.
The Matadors are 12-30 ATS in their last 42 Wednesday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games. CSU Northridge is also 14-36-1 ATS in their last 51 non-conference games and 1-5 ATS in their last six versus the Big Sky.
Meanwhile, the Bengals are 5-0 ATS in their last five versus the Big West and 7-20 ATS in their last 27 games overall. Idaho State is also 1-5 ATS in their last six non-conference games and 0-4 ATS in their last four home games.
CSU Northridge is pretty frustrating this year, as they’ve got some talent on their roster but can’t quite put it together on the court. The Matadors have failed to hit 70 points in any of their last four games, and have allowed 169 points over their last pair. At some point, CSUN has to get it going, and this is a solid opportunity to do so. I like the Matadors to cover here.
