The Line: Idaho Vandals -3 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

We have some non-conference college basketball action on tap Wednesday night, as the Washington State Cougars take on the Idaho Vandals.

The Washington State Cougars come into this one looking to bounce back from their first loss of the year, an 81-67 setback to UC-Davis, dropping the Cougars to 6-1 this season. Robert Franks led the team with 32 points on 12 of 18 shooting with 5 threes and a team-high 8 rebounds and a pair of blocks, while Malachi Flynn added 19 points on 6 of 14 shooting with 5 threes, 5 assists and a pair of steals as the only two Cougars to finish in double figures scoring in the loss. Milan Acquaah added a team-high 6 assists, while Drick Bernstine added 6 points, 7 boards and a pair of steals. Franks leads Washington State with an average of 20.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game while Flynn is the team’s leading assist man with 4.7 assists per game this season. As a team, Washington State is scoring 80.4 points per game on 45.6% shooting from the field, 40.7% from behind the arc and 74.6% from the foul line this season.

The Idaho Vandals will try to keep the ball rolling after winning back-to-back games and 5 of their last 6 games following a 79-68 win over Nicholls State last time out. Brayon Blake led the team with 23 points on 10 of 18 shooting with 14 rebounds for a double-double, while Victor Sanders added 15 points and a team-high 4 assists. Nate Sherwood chipped in 11 points along with 7 rebounds, 3 assists and a pair of steals, while Perrion Callandret added 10 points to finish off the double-digit scoring for the Vandals in the win. Sanders leads the team in scoring with 20.9 points per game while Blake is the team’s leading rebounder with 9.9 rebounds per game and Callandret leads the way in assists with 2.9 assists per game this season. As a team, Idaho is scoring 73.3 points per game on 44.8% shooting from the field, 37.6% from behind the arc and 76.2% from the foul line this season.

Washington State is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 road games while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games against the Big Sky. Idaho is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games against the Pac-12 while the under is 21-8-1 in their last 30 non-conference games. Washington State is 7-2 ATs in the last 9 meetings between these two teams.

Idaho’s start to the year is a solid one yes, but Washington State will be the toughest test so far for the Vandals. Before their loss to UC-Davis, Washington State posted some solid wins over Saint Mary’s, Saint Joseph’s and San Diego State. Idaho may be at home, but we are getting points with what I feel is the better team, and that’s usually a good way to win your bets, even on the road. So I’ll gladly take my free bucket with Washington State here.
