Coming up on Thursday from Xfinity Center College Park, the Ohio Bobcats and the Maryland Terrapins will me locking horns in college basketball action.
Ohio enters this game with a 4-3 record overall. The Bobcats have won three of their last four games versus Indiana State, Mt. Saint Mary’s and Coppin State. In that last game, the Bobcats’ Mike Laster put up 18 points to lead the team.
USA TODAY Sports
On the season, Laster is averaging 16.1 PPG, while Jordan Dartis is second on 14.7 PPG. Also in double-figures for the Bobcats are Teyvion Kirk (14.4 PPG; 5.1 RPG) and Gavin Block (12.1 PPG; 5.9 RPG).
Over on the Maryland side, they’re sitting at 7-3 on the year. The Terrapins have lost three of their last five, but did take out Illinois in overtime in their last game. In that Illini matchup, Terrapins guard Anthony Cowan topped out at 27 points.
Cowan is the leading scorer for Maryland this year with 16.5 PPG, 4.4 RPG and 4.0 APG, and Kevin Hurter is second with 13.4 PPG, 4.5 RPG and 3.7 APG. Bruno Fernando is the only other Terrapin in double-digits (10.8 PPG) but Justin Jackson is close with 9.7 PPG and 8.4 RPG.
The Bobcats are 2-6 ATS in thier last eight Thursday games and 2-6 ATS in thier last eight versus the Big 10. Ohio is also 2-7-1 ATS in thier last 10 non-conference games and 1-4-1 ATS in thier last six overall.
Meanwhile, the Terrapins are 3-8 ATS in thier last 11 Thursday games and 3-8 ATS in thier last 11 home games. The under is 5-1 in Maryland's last six non-conference games and 5-1 in their last six Thursday games.
Ohio took care of business against a bad Coppin State team their last time out, outscoring their opponents 45-17 in the first half and cruising the rest of the way. The Bobcats have now put up at least 88 points in their last four straight games. As for Maryland, they’ve been in games all year and their three losses each came by five points or fewer (and just two in a pair of instances). This should be an entertaining game, but I like the Bobcats to come out strong here on offense and cover.
