West coast college basketball brings us a bout between the Air Force Falcons and the UC Riverside Highlanders.
The Air Force Falcons are gunning for win number six still as the team saw a modest two game winning streak come to an end in a 62-58 loss to the visiting Abilene Christian Wildcats on Wednesday night. Air Force was easily the better shooting team at 49%-42.6% but 20 turnovers and a 3-18 effort from beyond the arc were too costly.

Trevor Lyons was the Falcons biggest offensive threat with 13 points and a team high seven rebounds on 5-8 from the floor followed by Lavelle Scottie with 12 points, three yanks and two assists on 6-12 shooting. The twosome of Keaton Van Soelen and Ryan Swan tossed in eight points each with Swan adding five boards and three helpers.
The UC Riverside Highlanders know their season is already on the brink of getting away from them. UC Riverside has dropped four straight to fall to 2-6 on the year after a 70-59 defeat at the Pepperdine Waves as a six point underdog on Wednesday. Pepperdine took a 15 point lead in to the half and never looked back with 13 more makes at the line negating the Highlanders 40.4%-37.5% shooting edge.
Chance Murray paced the UC Riverside offense with 15 points and five pulls on 6-11 from the floor while the trio of Dikymbe Martin, DJ Sylvester and Menno Dijkstra netted eleven points apiece with Dijkstra logging five boards. Alex Larsson gave the Highlanders nine points and a game high nine rebounds on 4-8 shooting.
Air Force are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 vs. Big West and Air Force are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 Friday games and under is 13-6 in Air Force last 19 overall. Under is 7-1 in UC Riverside last 8 vs. Mountain West and UC Riverside are 5-17 ATS in their last 22 home games and UC Riverside are 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 Friday games.
I think Air Force can get the win and cover but this won’t be pretty to watch with the first team to 60 getting the win as I see something in the neighborhood of 60-56?…
