The Duquesne Dukes won their 7th straight game and improved to 9-3 on the season after defeating the San Francisco Dons, 67-65, last night. Duquesne went into halftime with a 31-22 lead and held on late after the Dukes took a 66-62 lead with just :16 seconds left in regulation. Duquesne shot 44.2% shooting from the field and 50.0% (8-16) from the beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Dukes was Mike Lewis II who had 20 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. Going into their game against San Francisco, Duquesne was averaging 74.5 ppg on 41.4% from the field. The Dukes were averaging 8.9 three-pointers per game on 34.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Duquesne has been led by Mike Lewis II (16.7 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.4 spg), Eric Williams Jr. (14.2 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.5 spg), Rene Castro-Caneddy (13.5 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.8 apg, 1.4 spg), and Tarin Smith (11.9 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.0 spg). Defensively, Duquesne was holding their opponents to an average of 62.7 ppg on 43.0% shooting from the field The Dukes had a rebound margin of 4.1 and turnover margin of 4.0.

The Salukis are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games vs. A-10 opponents however, are just 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 neutral site games. The Dukes are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record however, are just 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games overall.

Southern Illinois had trouble slowing down the high powered Nevada offense last night, however, the Salukis have had a decent season to date led by their defense that ranks 81st in scoring defense and 50th in scoring margin. Duquesne has also been led by their defense this season as the Dukes rank 20th in scoring defense and has done a good job winning the turnover battle and rank 33rd in turnover margin. Southern Illinois should find much more success tonight against Dukes and as I think their defense is going to give the Dukes some trouble, I’m taking the Salukis to cover this small spread.

Please Note: The Team/Individual Statistics currently don’t include the games Southern Illinois and Duquesne played last night.
