We have some non-conference action on the hardwood, as the Alabama A&M Bulldogs take on the Georgetown Hoyas in a college basketball matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The Alabama A&M Bulldogs will look for a massive road upset to get their first win of the season after falling to 0-12 thanks to a 97-47 loss to Michigan in their last outing. Marcus Merriweather led the team with 16 points on 4 of 8 shooting with 3 threes, while Andre Kennedy added 10 points and 7 rebounds as the lone pair of Bulldogs to finish in double figures scoring in the loss. Julian Walters added 4 points with a team-high 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the losing effort. De’Ederick Petty was held scoreless, but still leads the team with an average of 11.3 points and 1.8 assists per game, while Kennedy is the team’s top rebounder with 6.2 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Alabama A&M is scoring 59.1 points per game on 38.6% shooting from the field, 34.1% from behind the arc and 64.9% from the foul line this season.

The Georgetown Hoyas will try to add another victory to their 9-1 start to the season after a 75-63 win over North Texas in their previous outing. Marcus Derrickson led the team with 17 points on 6 of 8 shooting with 7 rebounds and a pair of blocks. Jessie Govan and Jonathan Mulmore each added 12 points to round out the scoring in double figures for the Hoyas in the win. Govan added 14 rebounds, a pair of steals and 5 blocks while Mulmore dished out a team-high 6 assists. Govan leads Georgetown by averaging a double-double per game this season, with team-high averages of 19.8 points and 12.6 rebounds per game, while Mulmore leads the way with 4.7 assists per game this season. As a team, Georgetown is scoring 81 points per game on 48.7% shooting from the field, 36.5% from the 3-point line this season and 76.4% from the foul line this season.
Alabama A&M is 8-20 ATS in their last 28 games overall and 3-13 ATS in their last 16 games following a loss while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 road games. Georgetown is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 17-35 ATS in their last 52 home games while the under is 38-18 in their last 56 home games against a team with a losing road record.
I’ve been firmly against backing Georgetown with these major spreads, but just when you think there’s a line big enough to hold some value with Alabama A&M, they get absolutely demolished. Just ask Michigan and Minnesota, a pair of teams that hold 40+ point wins over the Bulldogs. I just can’t instill any confidence in Alabama A&M, so I’ll reluctantly lay the points with Georgetown here.
