The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks snapped their 3-game losing streak and improved to 3-10 on the season after defeating the Jacksonville Dolphins, 83-72, on December 20th. Northern Arizona was outstanding on the defensive end in the 1st half and cruised to victory in the 2nd half after taking a 35-23 lead at halftime. Northern Arizona shot 60.8% from the field and held Jacksonville to 29.6% (8-27) shooting from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Lumberjacks was Jojo Anderson who had 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. On the season, Northern Arizona is averaging 65.9 ppg on 39.8% shooting from the field. The Lumberjacks are averaging 5.7 three-pointers per game on 29.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Northern Arizona has been led by Jojo Anderson (13.1 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.6 apg), Chris Bowling (9.5 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 1.0 apg), Torry Johnson (8.6 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 1.7 apg), and Isaiah Thomas (6.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg). Defensively, Northern Arizona is allowing their opponents to average 79.6 ppg on 48.3% shooting from the field. The Lumberjacks have a rebound margin of -3.5 and a turnover margin of -2.8.
The Grizzles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS win and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Lumberjacks are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 home games and 20-8-4 ATS in their last 32 Thursday games.
Montana has traded wins and losses for the majority of their season to date however, has been decent on the defensive end as the Grizzlies rank 122nd in scoring defense, T-62nd in blocks per game, and T-49th in turnover margin. Northern Arizona had a brutal schedule to start the season and although they picked up a few wins along the way, the Lumberjacks still rank just 326th in scoring offense and scoring defense. Northern Arizona has struggled this season however, they’ve played decent against a very good South Dakota team at home recently and as I’m not overly impressed with what Montana brings to the table, I’ll take Northern Arizona with the points at home.
