Out at Centrum Arena Utah on Thursday night, the Montana State Bobcats will be visiting the Southern Utah Thunderbirds in college basketball action.
Montana State enters this game at 7-6 on the year. The Bobcats have lost three of their last four games, falling to Central Michigan, UC Santa Barbara and Omaha in that time. In the Omaha game, Bobcats guard Harald Frey logged 20 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Tops in scoring this year for Montana State is Tyler Hall with 17.3 PPG, and Frey has 14.8 PPG for second. They’re the only Bobcats players averaging in double-figures, but Kelvin Blevins is close on 9.4 PPG and 5.3 RPG.
Over on the Southern Utah side, they’re currently 6-5 this season. The Thunderbirds have lost two of their last three games, with defeats to Michigan State and Iowa. In the Hawkeyes game, Southern Utah’s Jadon Cohee and Brandon Better each had 12 points.
Leading the way on the stat sheet for Southern Utah this year is Cohee, with 16.4 PPG, and Better has 13.6 PPG to his credit. Also in double-digits for the Thunderbirds is Jamal Aytes (11.6 PPG; 5.6 RPG).
Montana State is 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS loss and 6-15-1 ATS in the last 22 games overall. The Bobcats are also 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games and 1-4 ATS in the last five Thursday games.
Meanwhile, Southern Utah is 8-1 ATS in their last nine games overall and 5-2 ATS in the last seven home games. The Thunderbirds are also 8-21-1 ATS in the last 30 games following an ATS loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five versus the Big Sky.
Montana State opened things up on a pretty decent run but lately hasn’t been doing so well. The Bobcats have given up at least 75 points in each of their last three losses. As for Southern Utah, they’ve put up just 127 points in their last two losses but have faced some tough competition. I like the Thunderbirds to stand tall here and win.
