The UIC Flames open their Horizon schedule with a trip to face the Wright State Raiders in Thursday college basketball action.
The Illinois-Chicago Flames are looking to rebound from a non-conference schedule that has the team staring at a 5-8 record following an 84-45 rout of the subdivision Trinity Christian Trolls. This was never competitive with Illinois-Chicago leading by 22 at the intermission behind a 43.3%-28.5% edge in marksmanship.

Dikembe Dixon paced the Flames scoring spree with 25 points and seven boards on 9-18 from the floor with Dominique Matthews next in line with 20 points behind a 6-10 performance on long balls. Clint Robinson gave UIC 13 points and eight rebounds while Tai Odiase added eleven points and six pulls.
The Wright State Raiders are out to prove they are a challenger in the Horizon and have been playing like it with wins in three of four capped off by an 85-81 win at the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as an 8.5 point underdog. Wright State rode a 54-41 second half run to come back from a nine point hole where both teams sank shots at around 52% with the Raiders hitting six more threes.
The explosive Wright State attack relied on Grant Benzinger and he responded with 22 points, four yanks and three assists on 5-9 from the floor with Loudon Love adding 16 points and 12 rebounds. Justin Mitchell gave the Raiders 15 points and another ten rebounds while Cole Gentry and Mark Hughes netted 12 and ten points.
