Out at Hilton Coliseum on Friday, the Kansas State Wildcats and the Iowa State Cyclones will be matching up on the college basketball court.
Kansas State comes into this one at 10-2 so far. The Wildcats lost to Tulsa earlier this month but since have beaten Southeast Missouri State and Washington State. In that Washington State game, Kansas State’s top scorer was Barry Brown with 23 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Brown is the leading scorer on the season for Kansas State as well with 14.4 PPG, and Kamau Stokes is right there on 14.2 PPG. Also in double-figures for the Wildcats are Dean Wade (13.2 PPG) and Xavier Sneed (11.6 PPG).
As for Iowa, they’re at 9-2 so far and currently sitting on a nine-game win streak. The Cyclones’ latest victory came versus Maryland-Eastern Shore, and in that one Iowa State’s top scorer was Cameron Lard with 15 points.
Donovan Jackson is Iowa State’s leading scorer this season, with 16.2 PPG, and Lindell Wigginton has 15.5 PPG for second. Nick Babb (12.5 PPG; 7.5 RPG) and Lard (10.0 PPG) are also in double-figures for the Cyclones.
The Wildcats are 4-0 ATS in their last four versus the Big 12 and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following an ATS loss. Kansas State is also 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a straight-up win and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Meanwhile, Iowa State is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 versus the Big 12 and 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 home games. The Cyclones are also 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games following a straight-up win and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Kansas State has been rolling along on a pretty good clip, but over the last month or so they’ve been prone to scoring lulls here and there. You could probably say that about Iowa State as well, since they put up just 55 points versus UMES. All in all, though, this should be a fun game and I’ll take Kansas State to cover.
