Saturday night college basketball brings us a matchup between the Air Force Falcons and the Fresno State Bulldogs.
The Air Force Falcons have been largely ignored when talking about challengers in the Mountain West. Time will tell but we do know this team must control the scoreboard to succeed. That didn’t happen in an 87-58 defeat at the New Mexico Lobos as an eleven point underdog on Wednesday with a 50%-37.9% difference in shooting being key.

Offensive options were limited for the Falcons with Lavelle Scottie being the lone double digit scorer with 12 points on 5-8 from the floor. Jonathan DeWane gave the Falcons eight points and three yanks on 3-4 shooting while Ryan Swan and Pervis Louder combined for 13 points on 6-13 from the field.
The Fresno State Bulldogs have been strong at both ends of the floor during their non-conference schedule but that wasn’t the case in an 80-65 loss to the Nevada Wolf Pack in their Mountain West opener on Wednesday. The Bulldogs were outshot 48.2%-45.1% and saw Nevada connect on 10-17 from long range.
Fresno State received a team high 16 points and three assists from Deshon Taylor on 3-9 from the floor and a 9-12 effort at the foul line. Bryson Williams gave the Bulldogs eleven points and three pulls on 5-6 accuracy while Ray Bowles Jr. and Jahmel Taylor combined for 17 points with Taylor grabbing seven rebounds.
I believe this gets out of hand if Fresno State takes a lead in to the locker room because putting up a big number is within their capability…
