USA TODAY Sports
Newkirk leads the Hawks in scoring this year with 17.7 PPG and James Demery is second on 16.6 PPG. Also averaging in double-figures for Saint Joseph’s are Taylor Funk (14.3 PPG) and Lamarr Kimble (10.0 PPG; one game).
Over on the Colonials’ side, they’re currently 7-6 on the year. GW has won their last two games versus New Hampshire and Harvard. In the Crimson game, George Washington forward Patrick Steeves posted 19 points.
Tops in scoring for the Colonials this year is Yuta Watanabe with 14.1 PPG and 7.0 RPG. Also in the double-figures club for George Washington are Jair Bolden (13.8 PPG) and Patrick Steeves (10.9 PPG).
The Hawks are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six versus the Atlantic 10 and 1-5 ATS in their last six following an ATS win. St. Joseph’s is also 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games versus a team with a winning home record and the under is 4-0 in their last four versus the Atlantic 10.
Meanwhile, the Colonials are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games versus a team with a losing road record and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 Saturday games. The under is 6-2 in GW’s last eight overall and 6-2 in their last eight home games.
Saint Joseph’s has some solid scoring on their top end, and they’ve shown flashes this season, but haven’t been terribly consistent. As for George Washington, they’ve looked good in the win column over the past month or so, but lately they’re not scoring very well. Still, I think the Colonials have enough power to cover here.
