The Chattanooga Mocs have lost substantial talent the has the team going from challenger to rebuilding in the Southern. Chattanooga has alternated wins and losses for over a month and it was a loss last time out with no offense in a 71-48 defeat to the visiting Georgia State Panthers where a 60.4%-30.2% difference in shooting was decisive.

The Mocs had very few offensive threats with Nat Dixon the only player cracking double figures in scoring with 18 points, five boards and two steals on 6-15 from the floor. Makinde London gave Chattanooga eight points and a game high nine rebounds on 3-11 shooting with Makale Foreman and James Lewis Jr. tossing in seven points apiece.
The Samford Bulldogs have struggled early on with a 4-9 record with the team being outscored 78-74. Samford saw their chance at a three game winning streak end in a 71-66 defeat at the Kennesaw State Owls.
