We have college basketball action out of the A-10 as the UMASS Minutemen take on the St. Bonaventure Bonnies.
The UMASS Minutemen will look to keep the ball rolling after winning 4 of their last 5 games, including a 74-63 triumph over Maine in their last outing. Carl Pierre led the team with 25 points on 9 of 13 shooting with 7 threes, while Luwane Pipkins added 16 points on 5 of 10 shooting with 4 threes in just 16 minutes on the floor. Malik Hines and Rashaan Holloway tied with 10 points apiece to finish off the scoring in double figures for the Minutemen in the win. The St. Bonaventure Bonnies will look to keep their hot streak going after winning 7 straight and 11 of their last 12 games following a 60-57 overtime road upset of Syracuse in their last outing. Jaylen Adams was the lone Bonnie to score in double digits with 23 points on 6 of 10 shooting with 4 threes and a team-high 9 rebounds. LaDarien Griffin added 9 points with a pair of blocks, while Idris Taqqee and Courtney Stockard each added 6 rebounds, with Stockard chipped in a team-high 5 assists in the win. Matt Mobley scored just 8 points, but still leads the Bonnies with an average of 17.5 points and 3.1 assists per game while Griffin is the Bonnies’ leading rebounder with 6.6 rebounds per game this season. As a team, St. Bonaventure is scoring 75.5 points per game on 44.5% shooting from the field, 38.4% from behind the 3-point line and 75% from the foul line this season.
UMASS is 4-11 ATS in their last 15 conference matchups and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a win while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 road games. St. Bonaventure is 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 conference matchups and 5-14 ATS in their last 19 home games while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. The road team is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
This is a lot of points to lay considering that the road team and the underdog has had the bulk of the success ATS in this matchup. However, UMASS’ win over Maine isn’t as much of a quality win as the Bonnies’ victory over Syracuse, and I have to think that some kind of momentum carries over here, so I’ll take a shot and lay the points with St. Bonaventure in this one.
