The UNC-Wilmington Seahawks snapped their 8-game losing streak and improved to 3-9 on the season after defeating the D-III Greensboro Pride, 101-60, this past Thursday. UNC-Wilmington was outstanding on the offensive end against the overmatched Pride and had no trouble picking up their first win in over a month after taking a 54-32 halftime lead. UNC-Wilmington shot 52.2% from the field and outrebounded Greensboro by a 63-33 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Seahawks was Devontae Cacok who had a double-double with 19 points, 15 rebounds, 1 assist, and a block. On the season, UNC-Wilmington is averaging 81.3 ppg on 44.1% shooting from the field. The Seahawks are averaging 7.5 three-pointers per game on 34.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UNC-Wilmington has been led by Devontae Cacok (18.6 ppg, 12.7 rpg, 1.2 apg), Jordon Talley (15.8 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 6.0 apg), Ty Taylor II (12.7 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.9 apg), and Jaylen Fornes (10.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.8 apg). The Blue Hens are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss however, just 1-6-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Seahawks are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games and 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall.
Delaware comes into this matchup ranked just 202nd in scoring offense and T-208th in scoring defense, however, they have a great player in Ryan Daly and is much improved club than what we’ve seen in recent seasons. UNC-Wilmington has arguably the best player in the CAA in Devontae Cacok who leads all of College Basketball in rebounding, however, the Seahawks are nowhere near the team we’ve seen over the past few years and have had major issues slowing down opposing offenses as they currently rank just 348th in scoring defense and 326th in defensive FG%. Delaware will have their hands full with Devontae Cacok, however, the Seahawks just can’t stop anyone on the defensive end and I think that the Blue Hens will walk out of Trask Coliseum with a victory. Take Delaware and the point.
