Coming up at Siegel Center on Saturday, the Fordham Rams and the VCU Rams will be meeting up in college basketball action.
Fordham enters this one at 5-7 on the year. The Rams have lost two of their last three, falling to Rutgers and West Virginia. In the WVU game, Rams guard Will Tavares put up 18 points.
USA TODAY Sports
Tavares is the top scorer for Fordham this year on 16.8 PPG with 5.6 RPG. Also in double-figures for the Rams are Prokop Slanina (11.8 PPG; 5.5 RPG) and Joseph Chartouny (11.3 PPG; 6.4 RPG).
Over on the VCU side, they’re currently 8-5 this season. The Rams have won their last three straight games, beating Bucknell, Winthrop and VMI in that time. In the VMI game, VCU’s Justin Tillman logged 19 points.
Tillman is the leading scorer for VCU this year with his 17.9 PPG and 8.3 RPG, which is also a team-high. Also averaging in double-figures for the Rams are De’Riante Jenkins (12.9 PPG), Jonathan Williams (10.6 PPG; 6.7 APG) and Issac Vann (10.0 PPG; five games).
The Rams are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS win and 1-4 ATS in the last five road games. Fordham is also 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall and the over is 3-1-1 in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, VCU is 17-8 ATS in their last 25 home games versus a team with a losing road record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games versus a team with a losing straight-up record. The under is 5-2 in VCU’s last seven overall and 4-0 in the last four home games versus a team with a losing road record.
Fordham has some solid scoring up top, but lacks the secondary offense they need to be more competitive. As for VCU, they’ve looked relatively solid lately, but haven’t been going up against big-time competition. Still, I like VCU to take a cover here.
