The red hot Missouri State Bears are aiming for a 2-0 start to the conference schedule after upending the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers 64-59 as a 5.5 home favorite. Loyola-Chicago owned a small 44.2%-43.1% edge in marksmanship but the Bears connected on 8-19 from beyond the arc for a little breathing room.

Missouri State relied heavily on the offense of leading scorer Alize Johnson who poured in a contest high 24 points with eleven rebounds on 8-19 from the floor including 5-10 on threes. Reggie Scurry gave the Bears 18 points and seven boards on 8-13 accuracy] while Ryan Kreklow added ten points, five pulls and five assists.
The Valparaiso Crusaders need a return to their early season form as the past several weeks have not been kind. Valparaiso has dropped five of six after a 73-64 defeat at the Indiana State Sycamores in their MVC opener on Thursday. The Crusaders were outshot 52.4%-47.9% with an 8-25 mark on threes being crucial.
Valpo saw the twosome of Tevonn Walker and Bakari Evelyn pumped in 19 points apiece with Walker posting five boards. Max Joseph was next in line for the Crusaders with 13 points, seven rebounds and two steals on 4-6 from the floor with the remainder of the team combined for 13 points.
