The Siena Saints will look for some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 5 games, including a 63-58 loss to Marist in their conference opener last time out. Ahsante Shivers led the team with 12 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double, while Roman Penn added 11 points and a team-high 4 assists as the lone pair of double-digit scorers for the Saints in the loss. Jordan Horn and Kadeem Smithen each shot 1 of 5 while logging a pair of steals, while Smithen added 10 boards. Nico Clareth shot just 2 of 16 from the field, but still leads the team in scoring with an average of 16.1 points per game, while Evan Fisher leads the team with 5 rebounds per game and Roman Penn is the team’s top assist man with 2.9 assists per game this season. As a team, Siena is scoring 69.9 points per game on 42% shooting from the field, 36.1% from behind the arc and 68.5% from the foul line this season.
Quinnipiac is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 conference matchups while the under is 19-7 in their last 26 games following a win. Siena is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games following a loss and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 conference matchups while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games overall. The favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
A lot of the trends point to taking Siena here, however I personally don’t feel comfortable laying points with Siena after how they looked in their first game. Sure, Clareth probably won’t for 2 for 16 again and the Saints will be at home which should help, but I still think Quinnipiac is the better team between the two, and I think this will be a close game throughout, so I’ll take the points here.
