We have some Big East conference college basketball action on Tuesday night, as the Georgetown Hoyas take on the DePaul Blue Demons.
The Georgetown Hoyas will look to rebound after back-to-back losses to start conference play, including a 74-65 loss to Marquette in their last outing. Marcus Derrickson led the team with 20 points on 6 of 12 shooting with 8 rebounds, while Kaleb Johnson came 2nd with 12 points and a share of the team-high with 4 assists. Jessie Govan rounded out the double-digit scoring for the Hoyas in the loss with 11 points, 12 rebounds and a pair of steals for the double-double. Jamorko Pickett added 9 points and 4 assists of his own, while Jonathan Mulmore and Jagan Mosley each had a pair of steals in the losing effort. Govan leads the team by averaging a double-double per game with 18.4 points and 12.2 rebounds per game, while Mulmore leads the team in assists with 4.2 helpers per game this season. As a team, Georgetown is scoring 81 points per game on 48.4% shooting from the field, 34.8% from behind the arc and 77.6% from the foul line this season.

The DePaul Blue Demons will also be looking to rebound after back-to-back conference losses of their own, including a 77-72 loss to Xavier last time out. Max Strus led the team with 33 points on 10 of 18 shooting with 6 threes and 6 rebounds, while Justin Roberts added 16 points to join Strus as the only Blue Demons to score in double digits in the loss. Tre’Darius McCallum added 9 points and a team-high 8 rebounds with a pair of steals, while Marin Maric added.4 points with a team-leading 6 assists and 4 steals. Eli Cain added 5 points and a pair of steals, shooting just 1 of 9 from the floor. Strus leads the team in scoring with 18.6 points per game, while McCallum leads the team in rebounding with 6 boards per game and Cain leads the team in assists with 3.7 per game this season. As a team, DePaul is scoring 74.7 points per game on 43.1% shooting from the field, 31.5% from behind the arc and 72.8% from the foul line this season.
Georgetown is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 Tuesday games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 conference matchups. DePaul is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the over is 6-2 in their last 8 home games. The under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
It appears as if Georgetown’s light schedule is starting to catch up with the Hoyas, and their early strong start is a product of weak opposition. DePaul’s two losses came to the best in the conference, and it could be a positive sign of turning the corner in the Big East for DePaul. However, something feels off about laying points with DePaul simply because they’re at home. Granted, the last two meetings have been decided by a combined 5 points, with DePaul winning outright as a 13.5-point underdog last season, but I still think the better play here is Georgetown and the points.
