Vanderbilt vs. Alabama - 1/2/18 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Vanderbilt Commodores will look to start off 2018 on a high note after closing out the year with an 81-74 loss to Florida in their last outing, notching their first ATS cover of the season. Jeff Roberson led the team with 18 points and 7 rebounds with 3 threes, while Matthew Fisher-Davis came right behind with 17 points and 3 triples of his own. Saben Lee chipped in 13 points with 3 assists, while Riley LaChance added 11 points on 3 of 5 shooting with a pair of threes and 3 assists, while Payton Willis rounded out the scoring in double figures for the ‘Dores with 10 points and a team-high 4 assists. Roberson leads the team in scoring with 14.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, while Lee is the team’s leading assist man with 3.5 assists per game this season. As a team, Vanderbilt is scoring 71.5 points per game on 41.2% shooting from the field, 32.5% from behind the arc and 73.7% from the foul line this season.

Alabama is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against the SEC and 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall while the under is 8-3 in their last 11 games following a win. Vanderbilt is 1-11 ATS in their last 12 games overall and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 home games while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games following a loss. Alabama is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams at Vanderbilt.

Alabama flat out dominated the Aggies who were a top-5 team in the country in their last game and even though Vandy held their own against Florida, and their layout on their home court takes some adjusting to and can be hard to play on sometimes, I’m not sure why the line is so low here. It took Vanderbilt almost 2 months to notch their first cover of the season, and the Commodores have still yet to cover a game at home where you’re supposed to do your best work. I think Alabama has too much going for them for Vanderbilt to keep the Tide down so I’ll back Alabama in a pick 'em here.
