The Drexel Dragons lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 6-9 (0-2 CAA) on the season after being defeated by the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks, 107-87, this past Tuesday. Drexel had no answers on the defensive end for UNC-Wilmington and couldn’t fight back after the Seahawks took a 69-47 lead with 16:58 left in regulation. Drexel allowed UNC-Wilmington to shoot 58.7% from the field and 38.95 (7-18) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Dragons was Kurk Lee who had 22 points, 4 assists, 1 rebound, and 2 steals. On the season, Drexel is averaging 72.9 ppg on 42.3% shooting from the field. The Dragons are averaging 7.3 three-pointers per game on 33.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Drexel has been led by Tramaine Isabell (19.5 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 3.9 apg, 1.0 spg), Kurk Lee (14.2 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 3.9 apg, 1.0 spg), Sammy Mojica (12.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.5 spg), and Austin Williams (10.1 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 2.8 bpg). Defensively, Drexel is allowing their opponents to average 77.1 ppg on 45.4% shooting from the field. The Dragons have a rebound margin of 2.5 and a turnover margin of -1.2. Tramaine Isabell is currently questionable for the game due to a groin injury that has kept him out of Drexel’s last three games.
The Cougars are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game. The Dragons are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record however, are 0-8 ATS in their last 8 games vs. CAA opponents.
College of Charleston has one of the most experienced teams in the CAA this season and although they can at times, struggle to score the basketball, the Cougars have an outstanding defense that ranks 26th in scoring defense and 76th in defensive FG%. Drexel has lost 5 of their last 6 games and has struggled on both sides of the ball as the Dragons rank 223rd in scoring offense, T-288th in scoring defense, and 254th in defensive FG%. College of Charleston was able to come out of Drexel with a 14-point victory last season and as I feel the Cougars will be able to score enough points against the weak Drexel defense, I’m taking the Cougars to cover this mid-range spread.
