Out at Athletics Center O’rena on Friday evening, the Northern Kentucky Norse will be matching up with the Oakland Golden Grizzlies on the college basketball court.
Northern Kentucky sits at 9-5 on the season thus far. The Norse have won their last two games, taking out IUPUI and UIC. In that UIC game, Northern Kentucky’s Drew McDonald posted 19 points.
USA TODAY Sports
McDonald is also the leading scorer for the Norse on the year, with 17.1 PPG and 8.1 RPG. Also in double-digits for Northern Kentucky are Carson Williams (14.1 PPG; 5.4 RPG) and Lavone Holland (13.1 PPG; 5.4 RPG).
As for Oakland, they’re currently 9-6 this year. The Grizzlies had a three-game winning streak going, but lost their last one to Green Bay on Saturday. In that game, Oakland guard Kendrick Nunn led the team on 33 points.
Nunn is tops in scoring for Oakland on the season as well, with his 25.3 PPG and 4.1 RPG with 4.3 APG. Jalen Hayes (20.1 PPG; 8.5 RPG) and Martez Walker (19.3 PPG; 4.5 RPG) are also in double-digits for the Golden Grizzlies.
The Norse are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five Friday games and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS win. Northern Kentucky is also 20-5-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall and 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 versus Horizon League.
Meanwhile, the the Grizzlies are 7-2 ATS in their last nine versus Horizon, and 6-2 ATS int heir last eight games. Oakland is also 2-5 ATS in the last seven games following a straight-up loss and the over is 7-2 in the Grizzlies’ last nine home games.
Northern Kentucky has some solid scorers on their roster this year, and they’ve really only been blown out once (84-71 versus East Tennessee State). Oakland is in something of the same situation; they’re getting blown out by the bigger schools but otherwise are taking care of business. This should be a fun game to watch, but all things considered I like the Norse to cover here.
