UNC-Wilmington shot 58.7% from the field and outrebounded the Dragons by a 43-24 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Seahawks was Devontae Cacok who had a double-double with 23 points, 16 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. The Towson Tigers lost their 4th straight game and dropped to 10-5 (0-2 CAA) on the season after being defeated by the Elon Phoenix, 75-72, this past Tuesday. Towson struggled defensively in the 2nd half against Elon and couldn’t force overtime after the Tigers, Brain Starr, couldn’t hit a game-tying three-pointer as time expired. Towson allowed Elon to shoot 48.3% from the field and committed 15 turnovers in the loss. Leading the way for the Tigers was Zane Martin who had 27 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal. On the season, Towson is averaging 74.3 ppg on 46.5% shooting from the field. The Tigers are averaging 7.2 three-pointers per game on 37.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Towson has been led by Zane Martin (18.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 1.9 apg), Mike Morsell (12.1 ppg, 3.3 rpg), Brian Starr (8.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.5 apg), and Deshaun Morman (7.9 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.5 spg). Defensively, Towson is holding their opponents to an average of 65.8 ppg on 39.6% shooting from the field. The Tigers have a rebound margin of 5.3 and a turnover margin of -0.1.
The Seahawks are 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS win however, are just 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Tigers are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 home games, however, are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
UNC-Wilmington has won 2 of their last 3 games, however, this Seahawks team has really struggled this season largely due to a defense that ranks 343rd in scoring defense and 319th in defensive FG%. Towson has struggled as of late due to a difficult schedule that feature 4-straight away games against decent opponents, however, the Tigers still should end up as one of the better CAA teams this season led by their defense that ranks 49th in scoring defense and 35th in defensive FG%. UNC-Wilmington has a great player in big man Devontae Cacok, however, Towson generally plays outstanding at home and as I think the Tigers will be able to find some success on the offensive end against the poor Seahawks defense, I’m taking Towson to cover this large home spread.
