We have some Big 12 conference college basketball action on Saturday afternoon, as the Texas Longhorns take on the Baylor Bears.

The Texas Longhorns will look to build some steam after winning 4 of their last 5 games, including notching their first conference win of the season after a 74-70 overtime victory over Iowa State in their last outing. Dylan Osetkowski led the team with 25 points on 8 of 21 shooting with 7 threes, 9 rebounds and a pair of steals. Eric Davis Jr. came 2nd with 15 points on 6 of 10 shooting with a pair of threes, while Matt Coleman added 12 points with 7 rebounds and a team-high 9 assists. Mo Bamba rounded out the scoring in double figures for Texas with 10 points to go along with a game-high 16 rebounds and 4 blocks for a huge double-double. Osetkowski leads Texas with an average of 15.5 points per game, while Coleman leads the team in assists with 4.5 assists per game and Bamba leads the Longhorns by averaging a double-double per game with 11.7 points to go along with his team-high 10.7 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Texas is scoring 73.3 points per game on 44.7% shooting from the field, 29.2% from behind the arc and 64% from the foul line this season.

The Baylor Bears will look to notch their first conference win of the year after dropping to 0-2 in Big 12 conference play after an 81-78 overtime loss to TCU in their last outing. Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. led the team with 27 points on 12 of 20 shooting with 11 rebounds and a pair of blocks for the double-double, while Terry Mason added 20 points on 10 of 15 shooting with 9 rebounds as the lone pair of Bears to finish in double figures scoring in the losing effort. Manu Lecomte added 8 points with a team-high 4 assists and a pair of steals in the loss as well. Lecomte leads the team in scoring with an average of 16.8 points per game, while Lual-Acuil Jr. is averaging a double-double per game with 16.1 points to go along with his team-high 10.1 rebounds per game and Jake Lindsey is leading the team in assists with 3.4 helpers per game this season. As a team, Baylor is scoring 80.9 points per game on 50% shooting from the field, 37.9% from behind the arc and 72.5% from the foul line this season.

Texas is 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 conference matchups and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a win while the under is 16-6-1 in their last 23 games overall. Baylor is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 conference matchups while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 home games. Texas is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams at Baylor.

I know home court plays a big part in games, especially in a big conference like the Big 12. However I’m baffled as to why Baylor is a favourite here. Sure, Texas isn’t great against the numbers in conference, but neither are the Bears and the Longhorns have gotten the better of Baylor on their home floor over the last few years ATS. I’ll take the points with Texas in a game I have the Longhorns winning straight up.
